ZipWave enables editing multiple archives at the same time. Each archive is represented in a Document Window.

ZipWave Main Window
ZipWave Main Widnow

Document Windows are made of 3 parts :

At the top of the document, there is a title bar which displays the current display mode.

RETURN

The main part of the document windows displays the list of files contained in the archive. This list depends of the current mode.

TIPS
For an easy and intuitive use, ZipWave integrates the drag'n drop technique. Here it's possible to drag a file from the archive and drop it on the disk folder. As a result this file will be extracted from the archive and copied to the specified folder! In the opposite you can drag drop files or folder from the Windows explorer or from the ZipWave Explorere tree to an archive to add files.

RETURN

On the left side of the document window, you can see a list of icons. Each icon represents a particular display mode. Selecting one of them cause ZipWave to display in a particular way the content of the archive.

  • ALL FILES
We can easily guess that with such name, that in this mode ZipWave displays all the files contained in the archive. This is the classical mode for displaying the content of an archive.

  • EXPLORER
In this mode, ZipWave splits the view into two sizeable parts. The first one displays the hierarchy of the sub-folders of the archive, whereas the second part displays files listed in the current sub-folder.

TIPS
Do not forget that in most ZipWave window, you can achieve drag'n drop operations. Here, you can drop files or folders directly into a sub-folder of the archive!

NOTE
You can display the content of a sub-folder in both files or images mode. In Image mode, ZipWave displays a miniature of the picture contained in each graphic files ! (See: Images Mode)
.

ZipWave Archive Explorer

  • IMAGES
This is one of the most innovating mode of ZipWave. In this mode, ZipWave will represent each graphic files by a miniature of the picture enclosed in these files!  This mode is perfect for quickly retrieving an image in a huge archive!

ZipWave Pictures Explorer

  • SEARCH
An other powerful mode provided by ZipWave ! In this mode you will be able to search for files without needing to unpack the archive! This is perfect for quickly finding a file !

ZipWave Archive Finder

  • NAME
Specifies the name or mask name of the file to find. For example, you can type *.exe to find all exe files. Of course you can use much more complex masks using characters "?".
    .
  • PATH
This is the list of all sub-folder contained in the archive. By choosing one of them, you tell ZipWave to restrict the search to it.  (See: Explorer Mode)
    .
  • TEXT
Here you can specify a particular string or words to search. ZipWave will only display files matching the NAME field and containing the specified words or sentence.
    .
  • MATCH CASE
Tells ZipWave to do a case sensitive or case insensitive search.
    .
  • MATCH WORDS
Tells ZipWave to search files containing the words specified in the  TEXT field instead of a whole sentence. The difference between words search and sentence search is that in the first one, each word is taken individually and its position in the file doesn't matter. Whereas in Sentence search mode, all words should come in the exact order of the sentence.

TIPS
Thanks to this function you can quickly find the file you were looking for.

TIPS
You can input several name masks by separating them by ; (semicolon). For example: *.exe;*.bmp will search for all exe files and all bmp files!

TIPS
For enhancing the search, you can prefix words with one of the following symbols : + (plus), - (minus), / (slash)

+ : indicates that the word MUST be present in the file (AND).
- : indicates that the word MIST NOT be present in the file (NOT).
/ : indicates that the word MAY be present in the file (OR)

For example:

+zipwave -newave

this line is equivalent to the following Boolean operation :

(zipwave) AND (NOT(newave))

In other words Zipwave will retrieve all files containing the word 'zipwave' but will exclude all files containing the word 'newave'..

Other example:

/zipwave /newave : will return files containing the word 'zipwave' or the word 'newave' or both of them at the same time.

NOTES:
- These pseudo-Booleans operations can only be used when the "Match words" option is active..
- Do not put a space between the symbol and the word..
- By default all words are prefixed by a + (plus).
