ZipWave is a program for manipulating archive files. As a result you can add new files and folders to already existing archives.

ZipWave Options

  1. Open an existing archive.

  2. Press the Add button from the ToolBar or select the Add command from the Actions menu.

  3. A files selector will open letting your choose which files to add. On this window you will also be able to set several Options.

  4. ZipWave will add selected files to the archive, and then refresh the display to reflect changes.

TIPS
There is several ways to add files or folders to an archive :
  • CONTEXT MENUS:
If this option is specified, ZipWave will insert several commands to the Windows context menus (these menus appear when you right click on a file or a folder). From these commands you should see something like "Add to..." or "Add to zip...".
    ..
  • DRAG'N DROP :
ZipWave enables drag'n dropping files. It means that you can add a file or a folder to an archive, by drag dropping them to the archive document!
In reverse, you can also use this technique for extracting files.

TIPS
You can use the Explorer Mode of ZipWave to arrange files into an archive. You can drag'n drop a file to one of the sub-folders of an archive for automatically adding this file at this place!

RETURN

When adding files to an archive, ZipWave proposes the following options:

ZipWave Options

  • ACTION
This list displays the possible actions. You can chose one of the following actions:
    .
    • ADD AND REPLACE
Adds all selected files. If a file or more is already present in the archive, it will be overwritten even if it's more recent than the one to add!
      .
    • UPDATE
Adds files only if they are already present in the archive and if files to be added are more recent. Files which are not already present in the archive are ignored (not added).
      .
    • ADD AND FRESHEN
Add files only if they are not already present in the archive or if they are more recent than existing archived files.
      .
  • ADD WITH WILDCARD
Instead of selecting one by one all files, you can type a mask such as *.exe and press this button. As a result ZipWave will add all files matching this mask.
    ..
  • PASSWORD
Opens the Password Windows to let you input a password for encrypting files.
    .
  • STORE FILE NAMES IN 8:3 FORMAT
Tells ZipWave to store file names in the old 8:3 format (known as short names). This is the way file names are stored under DOS and earlier version of Windows.
    .
  • INCLUDE SUB-FOLDERS
Specifies to add also files and sub-folders.
    .
  • SAVE CURRENT FOLDER NAME
Specifies to save the name of the current folder.

Example:
If you are adding file "c:\chaosfx\programs\chaosfx.exe" and if this option is not set the name "chaosfx.exe" will be stored in the archive. But is you set this option, it will be "programs\chaosfx.exe" which will be memorized.

  • INCLUDE ONLY IF ARCHIVE ATTRIBUTE IS SET
Adds only files whose Archive attribute is set.
    .
  • RESET ARCHIVE ATTRIBUTE
For each added file, ZipWave will reset the Archive attribute.
    .
  • INCLUDE SYSTEM AND HIDDEN FILES
Tells ZipWave to also include system and hidden files.
