OPEN AN ARCHIVE |  |
There
is several ways to open an already existing archive. - MENU
: FILE => OPEN ARCHIVE
The "classical" way to open an
archive is to use the Open Archive command from the
File menu or to use Open
command of the ToolBar. . - DOUBLE-CLICK
You
can double-click on a file under the Windows explorer to directly open it with
ZipWave. For that ZipWave must be associated with this kind of archive (see: Preferences) . - DRAG'N
DROP
You can drag a file from the
Windows explorer and drop it to the ZipWave windows to automatically open it.
 NOTE | By
drag-dropping a file to an opened document, ZipWave will add the dropped file to
this archive! So if you want to open an archive by drag-dropping it, you have to
drop it on the ZipWave title or toolbar. |  TIPS | You
can drag'n drop almost everything under ZipWave! For example you can drag'n drop
a file from an archive to a folder to extract this file to the selected
directory! You can also add the content of a whole folder to an archive
by drag-dropping it to the document windows representing the archive! And
finally you can also use the ZipWave Explorer tree
to realize drag'n drop operations |

MENU
If you specified this options
(see: Preferences) ZipWave will add commands
to the contextual menus of Windows. By right-clicking on a file, or folder,
ZipWave will display commands such as "Extract",
"Add", "Open
with ZipWave", etc... So to open an archive, simply right-click on
it and then choose a command such as "Open with
ZipWave".

EXTRACT ONE OR MORE FILES |  |
Once
an archive is loaded into ZipWave, you can extract its content. For that you can
: - MENU
: ACTIONS => EXTRACT
The Extract
command from the Actions menu or the Extract
button from the ToolBar let you choose the folder in
which you want to unpack the selected files.

CREATE AN ARCHIVE |  |
ZipWave
lets you create archive files (of course). For that use the New
archive command from the File menu. You can
also right click on a file or folder under Windows, and choose "Add
to..." or "Add To Zip". RETURN

ADD ONE OR MORE FILES TO AN ARCHIVE |  |
There
is several ways to add one or more files to an archive : - MENU:
ACTIONS => ADD
The
"classical" way it to use the Add command
from the Actions menu. Or to use the Add
button from the ToolBar. A files
selector will open to let you choose which files to add to the current
archive.

DELETE ONE OR MORE FILES FROM AN ARCHIVE |  |
To
delete one or more files from an archive, simply select them and choose the Delete
command from the Actions menu or push the Del
button from the ZipWave ToolBar
 TIPS | SHORTCUT: To
delete the selected files, press the Del key. |  NOTE | You
can tell ZipWave to copy deleted files to the Windows recycle bin for being able
to restore them! (See: Preferences) |

RENAME A FILE |  |
Very
useful, ZipWave lets you change the name of each files contained in an archive!
For that select the file you want to rename (one at a time), and choose Rename
from the Actions menu. The properties
windows should appear from where you can rename a file, but also change its
path and add/remove a comment.

CHANGE THE PATH OF A FILE |  |
In
most archive formats, files are store hierarchically. Here, ZipWave lets you
"move" a file from one sub-folder to an other. For that select the
file you want to "move", then choose Change Path
from the Actions menu. The properties
windows of this file should appear from where you can select a new path.

ADD COMMENT TO A FILE |  |
ZipWave
lets you attach a comment to each file contained in an archive. To add or modify
a comment, simply select a file, and then choose Edit
Comment in the Actions menu, or push the Note
button from the ToolBar.

CREATE A SELF-EXTRACTING ARCHIVE |  |
ZipWave
offers the possibility to convert archives into self-extracting ones. It means
that once converted these archives files will be able to extract themselves
without the need of any other program! There
is several ways to convert an archive into a self-extracting one: - MENU
: ACTIONS => CREATE SELF-EXTRACTING
Once an archive is loaded into
ZipWave, use the Create Sefl-Extracting command
from the Actions menu or click the AutoEXE
button. ZipWave will ask you where to create the auto-extracting file. . - CONTEXTUAL

Under
the Windows explorer, right click on an archive file and then choose the Create
Self-Extracting command.

ENCRYPT A FILE |  |
If
you want to protect the content of an archive from being seen by anyone, you can
tell ZipWave to crypt one or more files using a password.
For that, select the Password command from the Actions
menu. Then type the password you want to use and validate. Now when adding a
file to an archive, ZipWave will encrypt it using the password you provided.
Then when you no longer want to use a password when adding files, simple use the
Stop Using Password command still from the Actions
menu.

SEARCH FOR FILES IN AN ARCHIVE |  |
Have
you ever wanted to retrieve a particular file in an archive? Up to now, you had
to unpack the whole archive, and then run a program such as the Search command
of windows. Now thanks to ZipWave you will be able to search for one or more
files without unpacking the archive! ZipWave offers a Search
Mode (menu: View) which lets you display only
files matching several criteria. Once an archive is loaded into ZipWave, choose Search
Mode, the archive document changes to let you search for one or more
file!

BROWSE AN ARCHIVE |  |
Most
of archive formats can keep the hierarchy of files by
storing them in "virtual" sub-folders. ZipWave goes further by letting
you navigate through an archive! For that, load an archive into ZipWave and
select Explorer Mode. ZipWave show you the
hierarchy of the archive, so you can navigate the same way as under Windows
explorer. In this mode you can add file(s) (or folders) directly into a
sub-directory of the archive!

AN ANTIVIRUS PROGRAM |  |
A
virus is a small programs which can infect your computer resulting in several
troubles and in some cases lost of data and serious damages! ZipWave
lets you scan the content of an archive to find viruses. This is a useful
function to avoid being infected when you are downloading files from the
Internet for example. To scan an archive before extracting it, simply choose the
Scan command from the Actions
menu, or its equivalent on the ToolBar. However,
ZipWave is not an antivirus program, so you will need an external program for
scanning archives. See: Preferences =>
External Programs for more details. RETURN

VIEW CONTENT OF GRAPHIC FILES |  |
One
of the most powerful function of ZipWave is to display the content of graphic
files contained in archive! And those without unpacking the archive! To take
advance of this mode, load an archive into ZipWave, and select Images
Mode. ZipWave will examine each file of the archive, and each time it will
found a graphic file it will create a small preview of the picture! By
double-clicking on a graphic file, ZipWave will show you the image enclosed
using the ZipWave Images Viewer.

REGISTERING ZIPWAVE |  |
Version
of ZipWave you can find on CD-ROMs or on Internet sites are unregistered shareware
versions. It means that its purpose is to let you try the program and so be able
to see if it matches your needs or not. Then, if you want to use ZipWave further
you must register to receive a serial number which will let you use ZipWave in a
legal way. There is
several ways to register your copy of ZipWave : If you have

MANAGE OTHER FORMATS THAN ZIP |  |
In
spite of its name, ZipWave can manage a wide range of well-known archive
formats! For most of them, ZipWave has build in functions which let it
display the content of archives, and also extract them! For several archives
formats, you will need an external program to manage them (e.g. LHA). Newave
tried to make ZipWave functionality the most independent of archive type.
However, there is some functions which can only be done on ZIP file, but most of
operations can be made with all archives types! RETURN

PRINT THE CONTENT OF AN ARCHIVE |  |
ZipWave
has a real printing mode which enables you printing the list of files contained
in an archive. At any moment you can use the Print
command from the File menu to print the listed
files.
 TIPS | ZipWave
uses the current display mode to print the content of an archive. This mean that
if you are in All Files mode, ZipWave will
print all files contained in the archive. However, in Images
Mode, it will print the preview of the graphic files, and in both Explorer
Mode and Search Mode only listed files will
be printed. |

INSTALL THE CONTENT OF AN ARCHIVE |  |
If
ZipWave detects a install.exe or setup.exe
file into an archive, then, the Install command is
enabled. This command lets you automatically install the content of an archive
without needing to unpack it! ZipWave temporarily unpack the content of the
archive, and then runs the installation program! But
that's not all! If an archive contains several installation programs, it doesn't
matter! Depending of the current viewing mode, if only one program is visible,
then ZipWave automatically chooses this one. Otherwise, in the case several
programs are visible at the same time, simply select (click one time on the
program name) the one you want to use and ZipWave will do the rest for you! And
in the same kind of idea, ZipWave only unpack the sub-folder in which is the
installation program and note the whole archive! RETURN
